Carbon Monocoque
How is an engine block, mounted to a carbon fiber monocoque chassis? or for that matter any metal component...
How are metal components mounted to carbon fiber, or fiberglass? I understand when a car has a metal frame, but for one that is completely fiber, how are mounts made?
Is a steel plate embedded in the middle of the fiberglass, and than resined over, to create a mounting point?
There are 'hard points' in the composite structure comprised of a solid material which could be steel, aluminum or some other stronger material. These are bonded in when the composite structure is manufactured and can then be drilled and tapped for threaded fasteners.
