Brake Silver
changing brakes, what is the silver thin plate on back of old brake pad?
Hi, i changing my old 1992 paseo brakes, but I noticed that on some of my old front wheel pads, there is a flimsy silver colored thin metal attached to the brake, what is that, my new brakes I just bought from toyota didnt come with that.
If it is on the back side of the pad, between the pad and caliper it is an anti-squeal shim. Most manufactures use them but not always. Helps cut down on brake noise. You might be able to buy the shims seperately if you want or you can get products like De Squeal to put on the back of the pads before installing.
