Disc Rotor
How to replace motorcycle front disc rotor???
I am thinking to replace the motorcycle front brake disc rotor by myself. is anybody know how to replace them??? I did tried to unsrew the disc bolt but they are too tight. I been told by the mechanic that the disc have to heat-treated before removal and screw back on the wheel, is this true??? if yes, what can I use to heat the discs on the wheel?
the bike model is 1997 suzuki gsxr600 (SRAD)...the disc bolt is the hex head screw
make, model, year & size of bike would help.
and no to the heat treating...
I have replaced dozens of discs on my bikes over the past ~25 years (had drum style brakes before then) ... merely remove the screws ... they are supposed to be tight, most have allen hex head screws (that I recall anyway) and might require tapping the hex wrench with something like a hammer to get them broke loose.
applying heat to the screws might make them a bit easier to remove though.

make sure you have the correct size hex allen key / wrench and a small hammer to lightly tap on the allen key... quick sharp taps... or if you have an impact driver set appropriately to unscrew might work better.
