Shimano Acera shifting/derailleur problem, how can i fix it?
hi. i bought a bike with shimano acera derailleur front and back 8 speed. My problem is that whenever i am stopped or moving and i suddenly puddle with a burst of energy it seems that the chain switches gears or slips gears by its self i dont know exactly whats going on but it feels like it switches gears by its self and it sounds damaging. how can i fix this problem and what is it?
I just bought it today new and the place does do repairs
Take it back to the shop where you brought it & get them to adjust the gear derailleurs. When you first ride a new bike, there is often a need to make small adjustments to the gears & the bike shop should do it for free.
You could also ask them for some tips on bike maintenance as well. I've learnt alot of useful knowledge that way.
By the way, I have the Acera gearing on my bike as well. It might not be the most smoothest gear changing system as the more expensive ones, but with a bit of regular maintenance it is quite durable.
